The US decision, supported by the South Korean government, to deploy an antimissile system known as THAAD (Terminal High Altitude Area Defense) may be one of the most thoughtless strategic moves in a generation.
The official US justification is that close-in defense against North Korean missiles is necessary to protect South Korea. But the deployment is having more than a few negative repercussions: an argument in China for increasing its nuclear weapons stockpile; an incentive in North Korea for continuing to develop its long-range missile capability; a deep fissure in China-South Korea relations; a roiling of South Korean politics at a time when its corrupt president has been impeached; and a new source of tension in already fraught Sino-US relations.
Rex Tillerson meets with South Korean Interim President Dae-Jung tomorrow, and that Interim President will definitely be placed in a vice by Tillerson, to accept the continued build of the THAAD system, which, if completed on time should be operational by the end of next month.
The actual direction the US government is going to be taken by reading of the “tea leaves” of Tillerson’s statements after the meeting.
If South Korean Interim President Dae-Jung says NO to the THAAD system, unfortunately, South Korea can most likely expect some horrific “false flag” to be directed against it, blamed on North Korea, and the war is truly on for real, and much earlier than if he allows the THAAD project to continue.
The American Deep State will actually give this guy no real choice whatsoever, if, in fact, it has been decided that war is “the only way forward.” with North Korea.
Unfortunately, as stated in the UK’s Daily Mail yesterday, such an attack appears just about as real as a potential heart attack:
The US prepares to ‘incapacitate’ Kim: USS Carl Vinson carrying huge fleet of fighter jets arrives in South Korea as military sources reveal plan to ‘remove’ Jong-un’s war chiefs.
